when PoC are talking about their shared experiences, when we find a minute to laugh and joke about shit that is real for us, shit that happens to us, black, brown, and otherwise, and particularly to exclusion of the experiences of white folks

IT IS NOT ABOUT YOU

it is about us creating a space where we have none, thanks you your parents, your grandparents, your great-grandparents, and so on and so forth. 

it is about us trying to just be human amongst ourselves without having to measure up to white standards all the fucking time

and every now and then, if you’re being addressed*, it’s because the shit has gotten so serious someone felt like they should fucking tell you about it

so why not just shut up

and listen

and if that’s too hard, and you feel like whiteness is in jeopardy, like you need to defend it

log out of tumblr (and please, by all means, burn your computer)

and turn on your TV

or pick up a magazine

or a book

or a newspaper

and revel in the glaring whiteness all around you

because you have that fucking option
