  • “I favor integration on buses and in all areas of public accommodation and travel. ‘I am for equality. However, I think integration in our public schools is different. In that setting, you are dealing with one of the most important assets of an individual-the mind. White people view black people as inferior. A large percentage of them have a very low opinion of our race. People with such a low view of the black race cannot be given free rein and put in charge of the intellectual care and development of our boys and girls.’”

    Dr. Martin Luther King.

I can’t rock with MLK on the peaceful marches and the Christian influence or anything like that, but this quote is on point. It shows you exactly where MLK’s head was at, it wasn’t as far up in the clouds as the “I have a dream” speech would make you think.

    (via jumpstart-therevolution)

These are MLK words that aren’t often quoted. And we see today in 2012 that he was absolutely correct. Black children are white washed and taught anti-blackness in school. Black children are not taught black history or any semblance of black pride and in fact are actively taught the opposite of black pride.

Black children performed MUCH better in schools prior to integration even though the schools were often broke with teachers who didn’t have as much training and in hard to access areas. And even today, black students do better at HBCU’s than PWI’s.
