has anyone else noticed that white folks are always quick to jump into these 1984 “BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU” things, as if it’s so cool and they need something to resist so that they can feel edgy and rebellious?

meanwhile, People of Color and other oppressed groups could care less because they’ve dealt with shit like that their whole lives. like really— go look at how any marginalized group has been “Othered” by propoganda, public discourse, political demonization, etc., and it fits right into that Orwellian mold.

all of these white people complain about how “society” (read: white society) tries to box them in and train them into a crappy blue collar job when People of Color just laugh at them, saying, “are you kidding me? we don’t even HAVE the dead-end corporate job as an option!”

when white folks see OBEY, they think it’s the greatest thing ever because their lives are about self-fulfillment and doing what you want.

when PoC see OBEY they laugh because their lives have always been about SURVIVING and helping your people survive, then worrying about the rest later.

Yesssss!!!! These are also my feels. Especially with the whole “WE’RE BEING WATCHED ON THE INTERNET! ENGLAND HAS ALL THOSE CAMERAS!!! POLICE STATE!!!” and i’m like, yo, white dude, I’m already living in a police state. Always have been. I’m being watched while I do absolutely nothing because I dare to question people. It’s so fucked how they don’t recognize their privilege.

Also, am I the only person that doesn’t mind the idea of cameras? I also am the one to always wave at them too, so there’s that…not saying it’s an overarching power and the combination of tech and fascism but…:|
